Matt Bradley’s got the broken teeth…

This is a video, for an awesome band, by Matt Bradley. Yes that Matt Bradley. The one Ben sings about. Yes the Ben from Lucero. Check out the video then go by their album from New Scratch

A Daughter Says Goodbye

“My Daddy was my hero — he was always there for me when I needed him.

“He listened to me and taught me so many things but most of all he was fun.

“I know that Daddy had an important job. He was working to change the world so everyone would love wildlife like he did.

“He built a hospital to help animals and he bought lots of land to give animals a safe place to live.

“He took me and my brother and my mum with him all the time. We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together.

“I don’t want Daddy’s passion to ever end.

“I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did.

“I have the best Daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day.

“When I see a crocodile I will always think of him and I know that Daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all the animals.

“Daddy made this place his whole life and now it’s our turn to help Daddy.”

This is the eulogy offered by Bindi Irwin for her father Steve. His farewell service was attended by humans and animals alike as the crocoseum was filled to capacity with folks saying a final farewell to the man who made us all more aware of wildlife and of some of their plights.

Steve might have been damn annoying in his presentation but there was an honesty about him. He didn’t care what people thought and was always himself. He will be missed by millions around the globe. Outside of his personal friends and family I imagine that God’s wonderful creation will miss him most. His zeal for the animal kingdom was unmatched and anyone that comes after will have some very big shoes to fill.

The BBC News site has a nice pictorial of the service up on their site.

Goodbye Mr. Irwin you will not be forgotten.

Pre-emptive French Surrender

The French have already begun surrending to Iran. We should expect a white flag flying from the Eiffel Tower any time now.

The Independent

President Jacques Chirac has broken ranks with the US and Britain by calling for the suspension of UN Security Council action against Iran during negotiations over its nuclear programme.

“We must, on the one hand, together, Iran and the six countries, meet and set an agenda, then start negotiations. Then, during these negotiations, I suggest that the six renounce referring [Iran to] the UN Security Council and that Iran renounce uranium enrichment during negotiations,” M. Chirac said.

Not that I am at all surprised. Chirac is a classic Frenchman and has no doubt been looking for someone unto which to surrender for quite some time. I hear tell he personally tried to surrender to the rioters a few months back but he surrender was rejected soundly on the terms that the French cannot surrender to the French. Of course we get to the real hear of the matter a couple of paragraphs later in the story…

The French President is the first European leader to state publicly that a freeze by Iran is not a precondition for opening talks. The concession to Iran seems to be linked to events in Lebanon, where there had been concern that French soldiers may be targeted by Iran’s proxy militia, Hizbollah, over France’s previously hardline stance in the nuclear negotiations.

The French are scared of the Moslems. The followers of the pedophile prophet are proving their methods work by having the French capitulate early in negotiations. There are no doubt standing orders to offer Paris as a surrender condition should the French troops be confronted by any Moslem including children with ice cream cones!

The article goes on to quote more and more French whining. I was going to fisk the whole thing but what’s point. Chirac fisks himself.

Something Good Out Of It All

The Stories:

Just a blurb, they want you to pay!

Johannesburg (AND) In yet another furore to grip the Christian community, the head of the Orthodox Church of Greece has joined the Pope controversy by attacking what he calls Islamic fanaticism in Africa.

Fox News

BELGRADE, Serbia — Top Roman Catholic and Orthodox dignitaries declared Monday that the time has come to close the ages-old rifts between the ancient branches of Christianity and bring East and West closer together.

“We experience in our time that European nations unite and create one family,” he said. “It is time to recover the ancient unity. … East and West meet now not only on the theological level, but also on the political level.”

And the folks from which I blatantly stole the links:

Just go read the articles and what thos fine folks have to say about them. I get to be lazy this morning since Bill and Misha have already done such a fine job of commenting on them. Suffice it to say there is light coming from all of the problems caused by the followers of the pedophile prophet.

Bring it…

The London
A notorious Muslim extremist told a demonstration in London yesterday that the Pope should face execution.

Anjem Choudary said those who insulted Islam would be “subject to capital punishment”.

I have news for you Anjem. There will be no capital punishment for those in the free world. We have this little thing called freedom of speech. You and your ilk may not understand the concept but we can say what we want when we want as long as we do not incite people to crime or put people in the way of bodily harm with our words. Your words however do cross the line. Your pedophile prophet is not off limits for the rest of us! Whoops looks like I will be sentenced to death! Anyway while the Moslems plan my death read on…

UPDATE: As usual The Rott has some great posts on this issue. You should read them as well:

Jesus and beer?

I have to admit that Jesus is one of my favorite people of all time. He led an amazing life and set an example for us. No one single person’s teahcings have angered liberals more in recent years. I also have to admit that beer is one of my favorite drinks. I can knock back a pint just about anytime one is offered and there is nothing like a cold Lone Star after mowing the yard in the Texas heat. A recent ad campaign that has people up in arms really hits home with me. I can honestly say that in all my yearsof posting on Christian message boards and witnessing in my daily life that I get a better response to Christ’s message in bars than I do from most “Christians” I have run across on the net.

This London

An advertisement featuring the face of Jesus as a ‘miraculous’ apparition on a beer glass has caused anger among critics who say it undermines anti-binge drinking campaigns.

But the Rev Tom Allen, a ‘mission priest’ who works with young people criticised the message the image was giving out: “On the day when a Government commissioned report suggests that rather focus on drugs education, schools and youth work bodies should be educating young people about drink, CAN launch this particularly obtuse poster,” he said on his website.

Rev Tom amuses me. The poster is not abtuse at all. Without reading any farther I was already thinking how it points out that Christ is in us no matter what we are doing. Whether we are at the local dive tipping a long neck with friends, working on Sunday, sitting in church, sleeping with neighbors wife, Christ is with us. Sinner and saved alike. God is always around no matter how much we don’t want him to be.

However, CAN chairman Francis Goodwin said he hoped the poster and radio advertisements would spark a debate about God.

The campaign will use the youth forum website myspace.com to encourage discussion. He said: “The message is subtle but simple - where is God in all the boozing at Christmas?

“For many, Christmas is just drinking and partying and God is excluded, yet many young people are interested in finding deeper meaning and exploring faith.

“We hope the link to myspace will offer another venue for them to discuss their feelings and debate the issues.”

The image of Jesus on a beer glass is the latest in a series of controversial images created for CAN, a group of Christians of all denominations working in the media and advertising.

Previous campaigns include a poster depicting Jesus as the revolutionary leader Che Guevara and one suggesting Mary was having a “bad hair day” when she discovered she was pregnant.

Of course I don’t agree with all of their ideas…Christ as Che is actually utterly offensive to me but you won’t see me saying they shouldn’t have put out the images. I don’t doubt Mary had bad hair days though. :) (apologies to all of my Catholic readers). I find it interesting and even well done that these folks are taking pop icons, religious icons, and more and reaching out to youth to encourage dialog. Rev Tom needs to loosen his belt a little bit so he can remove the broomstick from his backside. We are not reaching the youth in the way that we should and at least CAN is doing something about.

Oh and hey Rev Tom here’s a clue for you. Bty raising a stick about it you have only insured more people will see the image and it will have more exposure. Way to shoot yourself in the foot brother!

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K Ted!

I have decided to play around with BlogAdSwap to see if it will drive a little more traffic to the site. Not that I want more traffic per se. It’s a weird thing. I want more readers but in a very strong way I don’t care if I get more readers.

Also the site seems to want to be just a little bit wider than the screen. I am going to be pouring over the code tonight between poker matches and seeing if I can’t fix that. I have a few clues as to what is causing it but it’s in the CSS which means I have to break out the books and read up some more.

I want to get the site all working before the weekend is over and I have to work tomorrow morning. So tonight is about the only time I have to do it.

UPDATE: Fixed the width issue but the submit this post bar is sort of being a damn pain…

I am the game and I want to play!

Shoot outs are annoying. As I write this I am waiting for seventeen more people to lose in the second round of a 20+2 heads up tournament. This means I have made it to round three. I will make money if I win the next match. But I don’t want that money. I want first place and nothing less. If I even finish second I will be disappointed to a large degree. I am good enough to win this! I am going to edit this post after I win and post the hand history that led me to the top…

A minor change

Since I don’t keep up with the moblog and stuff I am simply adding a re-direct. So going to myevilminion.org will get you to here as well. I am also working on the Day by Day code a little bit to try and get it running. The migration to the new server went really well and we are on a more up to date platform. In fact it went so well there was no downtime at all! I have to get a license upgrade to enable the spam filtering but other than that we are golden.

I will be playing with modules very soon and might even slap up a message board. I will be doing some blog ad exchange stuff and hopefully getting some more traffic and also emailing all the old minions and letting them know we are back and running strong. There are some cool modules and a few tweaks I want to get in place so expect a little weirdness while I do all of that!

A Helluva Way To Get There…

According to TPTB the first amendment bans religion in schools. It is a right that they cannot deny. They cannot deny the seperation of church and state. No teacher may pray in her classroom. This has been handed down to us and shoved down our throats with glee. Oddly enough this post is not about that at all. It is about another part of the first amendment that apparently does not apply in state run schools.

Detroit Free Press

Ben Lewandowski says he was only trying to be patriotic when he wore a homemade T-shirt featuring an American flag bumper sticker and the words “Remember 9/11″ to Lincoln Park High School on Monday…

He was one of at least seven students sent home for wearing shirts featuring patriotic images and messages. It comes less than a week after three siblings were suspended for wearing shirts emblazoned with the First Amendment, despite warnings, and a week after more than 200 students were sent home on the first day of school for violating the district’s dress code — which bans apparel with writing or pictures.

So the right that doesn’t actually exist, the one that seperates church and state, is in force 24/7 in school but the right to freedom of speech is not? It must be hard to be a liberal these days. I cannot imagine what it is like to be in head that can believe fully in a right invented out of whole cloth and deny another based on the very same set of words from the very same document! It is just sad to see how the so called enlightened come up with this drivel.

I applaud the young man who donned the patriotic shirt on Sept 11 and wore it to school knowing he was going to be sent home. It is that sort of civil disobedience that allows us to see these things brought to light.

Now imagine if a teacher had suggested the class say a prayer for the victims of 9/11, their families, and friends. How fast do you think the ACLU would demand that the teacher be burned at the stake? I am betting that heads would roll in other states due to the ACLU moving at the speed of light. They might even move at the speed of gossip! So how are they reacting to this? How are the supposed defenders of our rights reacting to something so obvious to the casual observer?

This, according to the ACLU of Michigan, may violate the students’ rights, particularly because it allows students to wear clothing that encourages school spirit but bans other forms of expression. ACLU officials have said that they plan to look into the constitutionality of the dress code.

They are going to look into it! Of course this means they will look into it as long as it is in the papers and brush it aside once the public eye is off the story. God forbid we waste any time with the real rights in the constitution. We have bigger battles to fight like getting that horrible Christian God removed from the public mind and making sure we can keep killing babies!

How are the students dealing with this violation of their rights?

Kelly Galley agrees. Her three children — 13-year-old twins Monique and Jaicen Massa and 11-year-old Jaymie Massa — were suspended last week for protesting the dress code by wearing T-shirts with the First Amendment on them. Jaymie had stayed home from Lincoln Park Middle School on Tuesday, but Monique and Jaicen wore the shirts again — their third offense — and were suspended again, this time for five days. One more offense and they’ll be expelled.

Galley said it’s likely she’ll end up homeschooling.

Good for Mrs. Galley! May we be arrogant enough to reccomend that she pack her obviously wonderful children and move down here to the Lone Star State? We need more folks like her down here! I applaud this mom for not only allowing her children to stand up for their rights but also for encouraging them to do so!

As for the idiots at the school district: Here is your free clue for the day, if the first bans religion from schools without ever even stating such then it certainly gaurantees freedom of speech in schools by explicitly stating such. I thought you people in education went to college or some such. It is amazing how utterly stupid some people can be.

Rope. Tree. School Board.
